Let Nature be Your Friend
Sometimes, people bring happiness, comfort, joy, and love. But people can also change—they might leave you or cause pain in ways you didn’t expect.
This could be a partner, a friend, or even family.
I've been in that place where I tried to chase happiness through every means possible. I surrounded myself with friends, filling my days with noise and laughter, hoping it would drown out the loneliness. But every time I came home, a heaviness crept back in. My world shattered all over again as I entered my room, filled with silence, anxiety, and sadness. No matter how many people I had around me, I was still left alone with my own shadows.
I’ve tried to make myself feel better by buying luxury items I didn’t need, spending a lot of money thinking they would add meaning to my life. Those things though beautiful, just sat on my shelf. Did they bring me peace? Not really.
Humans are social beings, as I’ve mentioned in other article "The Courage to Talk". We do need other people in our lives. And sometimes, I believe God brings people to us to help.
As for luxury items, honestly, I still like them. I love expensive shits! But my point here is that I don’t rely on people or luxuries to make me happy.
People don’t always bring me peace, and neither do expensive items.
Books and paper are my best friends and my calm when my mind is full of questions and worries. But I’ve also realized nature is a great friend, too.
Nature.
Every time I see a clear sky, I thank God.
Every time I see the sun paint the sky in colors of yellow, orange, and pink, I thank God.
Every time I feel a fresh air on my skin, I thank God.
Every time I watch beautiful little leaves falling from trees, I thank God.
I’m grateful to God for creating nature, which I can still enjoy.
Feeling the fresh air reminds me how many people out there are unable to experience it due to illness. I’m lucky to still see the sunset and the painted sky because my eyes are still good. Imagine those who can’t see this beauty at all because they’re blind.
These small things make my problems feel smaller... they remind me that I am still blessed to experience the beauty of God’s world.
Many people don’t realize how connecting with nature can bring real happiness.
I believe nature can heal.
Nature never harms us, though humans often harm it. Yet, nature always heals, providing fresh air, healthy fruits and vegetables, and incredible scenery for free.
We don’t have to pay to see a beautiful sky or a stunning sunset.
When you feel sad, lonely, or like you have no one, go outside and let the morning or evening sun be your friend. Visit a park, look at the green leaves, and feel the breeze on your skin. Take a moment to realize how lucky you are to enjoy these things for free. When you feel grateful for nature’s kindness, I believe your heart will feel lighter.
Beyond helping with stress or sadness, nature also strengthens our immunity. Ever notice that when someone feels unwell, they often step outside to sit in the sun? That sunlight brings energy back into the body. In fact, when I’m sick, the first thing I seek is the sun. I get up early, and if the sky is bright, I’m grateful—I feel I can regain my strength just by being under the sun.
You don’t need a lot of money to buy plane tickets and travel to enjoy nature. You don’t need to climb a mountain to experience nature’s beauty. You can visit a park nearby, breathe in the fresh air, feel the warmth around you, see the trees, and let the breeze touch your skin.
If you do have more money to travel, then yeapp, go and experience more of nature.
The main message I want to share is that nature, free and accessible, can be your friend and a reminder that you’re lucky to experience its beauty.
With Love,
D
